We might not all agree on our favorite Presidents. But here’s something we can all get behind:
You can’t spell “President’s Day” without P-A-N-T-S.
That’s why we’re offering 20% off all pants through Monday, February 20. In honor of this one-weekend-only event, we thought we’d share some little-known pant-facts:
Now that’s vintage: The world’s oldest pants date back to the thirteenth century B.C. Discovered in a Chinese cemetery in June 2014, these 3,000-year-old wool trousers had straight legs and a wide crotch, and were likely made for horseback riding.
Pants and prejudice: In eighteenth- and nineteenth-century England, form-fitting trousers were forbidden in some circles — and sometimes referred to as “inexpressibles” because they left nothing to the imagination.
Equality and pantsuits for all: In 1972, Pat Nixon was the first First Lady to wear pants in public. And incredibly, women were not allowed to wear pants on the floor of the U.S. Senate until 1993.
- Alex Mill. Check out the women’s Phoebe Pant in garment-dyed recycled denim or the men’s Painter Pant in vintage wash denim — complete with a signature “x” belt loop.
- Marine Layer. Our women’s 15-wale corduroy Bridget pant is a fan favorite, as is the best-selling re-spun Allison pant made from recycled materials.
- Just Black Denim. The women’s Ribcage Straight pant is a great option for petites. And the High Rise Vintage Straight is dyed with Liquid Indigo, an ink that’s both sustainable and fade-resistant.
- Levi’s. Levi Strauss was basically the Founding Father of blue jeans, and we’re proud to carry this iconic brand as part of our men’s collection. If you’re looking for something on the vintage-inspired side, there’s the ‘93 Straight Bleu Eyes Baby — or check out the Taper Moto Cross pant for a more modern look.
Yours in Curiosity,
